Multiple people have been shot at a church in Alabama and a shooting suspect has been taken into custody.
Police say the shooting took place at St Stephens Episcopal Church in the Birmingham suburb of Vestavia Hills on Thursday evening.
Authorities received a call reporting an active shooter at 6.22pm.
Police confirmed multiple people had been shot but did not give the number of victims or their conditions.Â
Police did not identify the person they detained or give details of what had happened.
Numerous law enforcement agents, along with emergency crews, are at the scene.
