The event attracted people young and old, with children and adults being guided by Hoop Sparx’s Lura Wilson.
Participants learnt different ways to exercise with a hoop to ensure their bodies got a full workout.
Though the benefits of the workout were serious, the event was not, and there was much laughter to be had.
Hoop Sparx founder Donna Sparx has held numerous exercise events in Shepparton over the years and believes Hoopercise’s popularity is due to it being an inclusive, fun form of exercise, which attracts people from all walks of life and varying levels of fitness.
“We have been doing it for years, the programs attract people aged from four to 70,” she said.
“Every time I run the event in Shepparton there are always familiar faces alongside the newcomers. There is a growing hula hoop community in Shepparton.”
It is said exercising with a hoop can burn up to seven calories per minute and can help tone a person’s abs, obliques, shoulders, biceps and triceps.
