The sides were made to share the spoils following a dumbfounding 4-4 draw at McEwen Reserve, with the Suns forwards coming in clutch to bail the side out of hot water after trailing for the majority of the game.
Coach Shaban Mehmet was unimpressed with side's overall standard of play, but highlighted the importance of his younger squad members stepping up to the occasion.
“As a team we were unacceptable, we had a few individually brilliant moments, but for the rest of the game we struggled to string passes together,” Mehmet said.
“Apart from Melbourne Victory and Melbourne City who created their goals, every team we have played against we have made mistakes and have been punished for them.''
The home crowd barely had time to blink before Murray gained the ascendancy through Aidan Rees, but a rapid double from Hammad Agog soon pulled the hosts back out in front.
No sooner had the Suns had taken a second to breathe it was 2-2, as Sebastian Dalitz converted from the spot to draw the away side level.
Adam Jordan’s strike shortly after the restart drew sighs from the orange army, but a mesmerising solo effort from 16-year-old Garang Kuol had the crowd back on its feet.
Blood pressures were at an all time high across the ground as Murray edged ahead for the third time through Steve Fidele, but cue Kuol to save the day with a goal any football fan would have on replay.
Robust defender Thomas Raditsas sent the ball into the stratosphere from inside his own half as Kuol streaked forward, latched on to the pass and guided it into the net on the volley with minutes remaining on the clock.
Raditsas was mere millimetres from villainy after scything his man down in the box following the Suns' late equaliser, but was saved his blushes as referee Jake Keating opted for the final whistle instead.
The under-20 outfit will have its final hit-out against second-ranked Bulleen Lions on Saturday afternoon.
