The Victorian Seniors Festival is a statewide event to celebrate older Victorians’ contributions to our communities.
The festival will feature live and online events across the state, including radio programs.
This year’s theme 'Takin’ it easy' focuses on accessible and comfortable spaces.
The festival will include a country concert series that will take the fun on the road to 26 regional towns.
In Broadford, Mitchell Shire Council will host rockabilly's finest, Lonnie Lee, in his Loving Life tour.
The free event will be held on October 11 at 11am. The location is yet to be announced.
Mr Lee said he connected to his audience by singing songs that were close to his heart.
“These were the songs which we sang along and danced to in the prime time of our lives," Mr Lee said.
Victorian Seniors Card holders will be able to access free travel on public transport including V/Line services from October 2 to 9.
Disability, Ageing and Carers Minister Colin Brooks said the series of free events was a chance for the state government to say thank you to seniors for their contributions to the community.
"Whether online or in person, the month-long festival provides senior Victorians with opportunities to get involved, meet new people, learn new skills, or just enjoy the entertainment,” Mr Brooks said.
