The well-known and respected local businessman was one of two people who tragically died after a helicopter crashed in the NSW Southern Highlands.
About 6.45pm on Wednesday, December 2, the Joint Rescue Coordination Centre (JRCC) received information about a missing aircraft last seen east of Marulan.
Police from The Hume Police Area Command, Police Rescue and Bomb Disposal Unit, NSW Police Ambulance Paramedics, Fire and Rescue NSW, Rural Fire Service commenced a search in rugged bushland near Tallong.
The crash site was located about 12.25am by NSW Police Rescue personnel and the bodies of two people were located near the wreckage.
Moira Shire Council Mayor Libro Mustica and CEO Mark Henderson released a joint statement the day after the tragic accident, offering their condolences to the family.
“Moira Shire Council is devastated to learn of the tragic death of Cr Andrew Goldman overnight,” the statement read.
“Cr Goldman was elected as a councillor for the 2020-24 term and was looking forward to contributing to the improvement and growth of our shire.
“On behalf of councillors and staff we extend our thoughts to his family at this difficult time.
“He will be greatly missed.”
Investigators from the Australian Transport Safety Bureau (ATSB) in conjunction with the NSW Police Force, are still investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash with no announcements yet to be made surrounding funeral arrangements.
