Alex and Jacob grew up as next door neighbours and have always shared a love for camping on the river.
“We spent a lot of time together growing up and we started dating around 12 years old,” Alex said.
The couple chose the Timbercutter for their special day as the low-key and picturesque venue represented their shared love.
“We love to go camping at Deniliquin and Moama,” Alex said.
“We thought it’d be too busy in Moama and searched on Google to find the Timbercutter which is based in Mathoura.
“We went there to check it out and just loved it.”
Alex and Jacob were engaged for two-and-a-half years by the time they got married and had only looked at one other place before deciding Timbercutter was the “perfect” location for their wedding.
“Kelly and the crew there are so awesome and welcoming,” Alex said.
“The place just felt very homely, easy going and it’s a family-run business.”
The couple had a pretty good idea for what they wanted, with Ashley K also doing their wedding planning.
“I pretty much had most things in mind and she was able to help me organise some of those things even though I hadn’t engaged her as a wedding planner.”
“Whenever we were stuck, all the vendors would go out of their way to assist like a celebrant from Married By Georgia — she would message me with suggestions for us.”
Alex was one of the first in her friend circle to get married so she relied heavily on the vendors.
“I can’t thank the vendors enough,” she said.
“They made the day stress-free for me as I have a highly stressful job, so being able to count on them to set everything up was great.”
Alex said the wedding day exceeded their expectations and everything went exactly to plan.
“All the vendors went above and beyond, but Bendigo Bridal Collections helped immensely,” she said.
“I went in there thinking for my wedding dress that I don’t want to wear white, I want to wear something lacy, I don’t want to wear something tight.”
Alex said what she ended up wearing was white, tight and lacy.
“I would’ve never picked that dress out unless they insisted and I’m glad they did,” she said.
“I will never top how beautiful I felt that day, the dress I was wearing was super comfortable and practical as there was plenty of room for movement.
“I felt so comfortable and beautiful.”
A growing trend for brides is to buy a denim jacket to wear later on in the evening.
“I bought it online from Sleeping with the Enemy and had ‘Wifey’ written on the back,” Alex said.
She said Jacob had one task for the wedding and that was to pick the vehicles.
“I planned most of it because it was easier that way, but this was one task I was happy to give to him.
“But I admit I was stressed in case it didn’t work out.”
