The Bureau of Meteorology is forecasting river levels at Corowa are likely to remain steady above the minor flood level (4.60m) through to the end of the week.
The Murray River at Albury is expected to remain below the minor flood level (4.30m).
River levels downstream of Corowa are likely to remain below minor flood levels, BOM said.
The Murray-Darling Basin Authority has been increasing the release of water from Hume Dam to create airspace, following widespread rainfall.
MDBA river management executive director Andrew Reynolds said the Hume releases, combined with Kiewa River inflows entering downstream of the dam, meant flows were expected to exceed channel capacity at Doctors Point in the coming days.
"Although rainfall eased off somewhat in the past couple of months, we're approaching what is typically the season of highest inflows, and the Bureau of Meteorology is also forecasting a 50 per cent chance of another La Niña developing later this year," Mr Reynolds said.
"At Hume Dam we have been in and out of flood operations for the past 12 months and this is likely to continue into spring.
“As always, we'll work closely with Bureau of Meteorology and WaterNSW, and will communicate any significant changes to communities downstream of the dam.
“It's also notable that substantial amounts of water for the environment will be delivered through the system this year, including to the Barmah-Millewa Forest, unless natural flows exceed environmental targets."
The MDBA's river operators respond to different conditions daily and adjust their strategies as the season unfolds.
Conditions are evaluated based on BOM forecasts and advice, inflow data, predicted inflows and demands and historical records, to determine how to best manage the system.
The River Murray System Annual Operating Outlook is prepared by the MDBA with input from the NSW, Victorian and South Australian governments
Landholders can sign up to WaterNSW's Early Warning Network to be notified by SMS, email or landline about dam activities during periods of flooding or high releases.
