The Berrigan Football Netball Club’s thirds and fourths footballers were special guests at a whole club celebration last week.
During the club’s official season launch, each player was invited up to collect their playing jumpers.
The ceremony itself has become a great way to kick off the season, and gives a feeling of having earned something, your number, your jumper and your identity within the four walls of that club.
Club committee member Noel Baxter said there will be new and returning players this season, and there is some excitement around the club for the season ahead.
“It was an excellent night. We had great attendance, and we saw plenty of senior footballers and netballers there.
“The young ones really enjoyed it and were proud to receive their jumper from a senior person at the club.
“All had big smiles on their faces.”
Berrigan fourths competed in the Picola & District league grand final last year and will be hoping to emulate that form, and take it one step further in 2025.
The club in particularly pleased to have a thirds side this year, with not enough players to field an under-17s side last year.
