A tough 63-60 defeat to Bellarine in game one has left the Gators with a big job to do.
The men in red and purple will need two wins from two at Shepparton Sports Stadium this weekend.
But after a tough encounter in game one, Beks said his side had gone back to the drawing board and identified what was needed this time around to clinch the win.
“It was a hard-fought game,” Beks said.
“We executed our game plan really well, defensively we did what we wanted to do and we were really effective in that area.
“It was just offensively we couldn’t get buckets to fall and couldn’t get shots to land — free throws, from the field and then a few turnovers towards the end cost us.
“We’ve been on the track all week looking to tweak those things and we’re really looking forward to the challenge of trying to win Saturday night, then backing it up on Sunday.”
After some raucous home support for the Gators in their first two finals triumphs, Beks said they would be hoping for more of the same come Saturday night.
“We’re keen to see a huge crowd, obviously we’ve had it all year,” he said.
“We’ve been over capacity for the first two finals at home, so we’re hoping it’s going to be even bigger this time around.
“We’re really looking forward to it — we’ve got the best home crowd in the league, so we want to see everyone pack it out again.”
Improving on their composure in the offensive end, while cleaning up on efficiency at the free throw line could well prove the difference this weekend.
“There’s just a few things we’ve got to tweak offensively,” Beks said.
“We’ve been trying to put those things into place on Tuesday and Thursday at practice, so come Saturday, we’ll be raring to go.
“We’ll execute the same sort of plan defensively, but we’ll be trying to make sure we get into better spots offensively so we can get our shots to land.
“Definitely looking to rectify a few things Saturday night and come away with a win.”
