Last Thursday it was an exciting finish to the ladies Medal of Medals, with a four-way play-off after Felicity McCalman, Carol Hardman, Mandy Phyland and Vicki Brunker all completed their round with net 73.
After three holes, three were left and went down the 18th for a sudden death play-off. Vicki Brunker scored a birdie to take the title. The ladies thank Prue Lloyd for sponsoring this event.
The best ladies score in their monthly medal was Bev Purtill with an excellent round of net 66. A-grade winner was Vicki Brunker 73 on count back to Carol Hardman, and Bev Purtill won B-grade from runner-up Pauline Sherwin 73.
The men’s Medal of Medals was contested on Saturday and was won by Russell Begg with a net 75.
The best round for the men’s monthly medal was Barry Barlow with net 71, and he also won A-grade from runner-up Leigh Chappell. B-grade winner was Peter Thompson 72 on count back to Ken Maher, and C-grade winner was Jane Glowrey 71 from runner-up Anita Gorsuch 72.
In Wednesday’s stableford event, the A-grade winner was Gary Stephens with 39 points from runner-up Kerran Leetham 36, and in B-grade Greg Collins was the winner with 37 on count back to John Henderson.
There is plenty of upcoming action on the course.
Summer Sixers returns from Monday, October 21. Get a group together and register at the Pro Shop. This is a fantastic opportunity to have some fun, enjoy the outdoors, and showcase your skills on the course!
Summer Sixers is a nine hole competition for a team of six players. You can play as many rounds as you like each week with your best score counting, then the top four scores from your team counts in the weekly round. The competition is open to all social golfers, and you do not need a handicap. Team registration is one hundred and fifty dollars, which can be paid at the Pro Shop.
Next week we welcome visitors for the annual Veterans Week of Golf, which kicks off with registration on Sunday from 4:00pm to 6:00pm.
There is then a medley four ball best ball stableford on Monday, rounds one and two of the 36 hole stableford event on Tuesday and Thursday respectively, then VGA Trophy Day on Friday.
A big welcome to all visitors who are sure to have a week filled with golf, camaraderie and competition.
Also coming up on the course this week is the coveted Borella Cup and Rita Barnes Goblet, to be contested as stableford events tomorrow, and the WRDGA Junior Tournament is on Sunday.
Next Wednesday is the usual stableford, with VWOG visitors invited to participate, and Saturday, October 19, is a four ball best ball stableford and the final round of the Eastman Knockout.
Friday Night Fun resumes tonight after a week off for the Ute Muster. Raffle tickets are on sale from 6pm, happy hour from 6pm to 7pm and quality meals are available at a reasonable price.
