The Paddle Slammers triumphed again this week, despite making some team changes.
Peter Rae was eager to learn first hand and joined the team, quickly showing he could add plenty of spin to the ball.
Darren and Cheryl Thommers have returned from their holiday and are excited to get back on the court, though this week Pickle Power couldn’t secure a win.
Old Crocks won all their matches against Kitchen Sinkers.
Annie Romanin filled in for Lucy Horne and gave her best effort, but they couldn’t match the tennis experience of the Bulmer duo.
Pickle Fighters secured their first win of the season, taking nine of the 10 matches against Volley Vultures.
Experienced player Anthony Michael joined the Pickle Fighters and made a big impact with his knowledge and skills, which was appreciated by both teammates and the opposition.
Amanda Astill, after only two weeks, has made great strides in her game and contributed to several long rallies.
Volley Vultures welcomed two new players, Owen Macartney and Lucy Howard, who quickly picked up the game.
Lucy’s tennis background shone through with some fast returns, though many of them didn’t quite make it over the net.
The closest contest of the night was between Love All and Baby Got Back Hand.
Simone Lumbar called in her father to fill in a position, and Kerrie Ellis did an amazing job babysitting Lumbar's infant, allowing the team to secure seven of the 10 matches.
Love All won two of those matches in tiebreakers.
James Mettam had his debut at Pickleball, stepping in for Baby Got Back Hand and will now be ready to help his team, Top Spin, next week, as they had the bye this round.
Next week’s matches: Courts 1 and 2 - Paddle Slammers vs Kitchen Sinkers; Courts 3 and 4 - Pickle Power vs Old Crocks; Courts 5 and 6 - Top Spin vs Pickle Fighters; Courts 7 and 8 - Love All vs Volley Vultures; Bye - Baby Got Back Hand.
