Travelling to Lonsdale Recreation Reserve, the Tigers were looking to get one back over the Lions on their home court, however, it wasn’t to be, going down 24-63 against the seventh-placed Mulwala.
The home side made a hot start to ensure that Cobram was always playing catch up, with an 11-goal margin at the first break seeing the Tigers trail 6-17.
The second quarter only worsened the visitors’ scoreboard position, with a ruthless Mulwala continuing to attack, meaning the Tigers went into half-time 21 goals in arrears, down 11-32.
After the main break, it was more of the same, as the Lions put together their highest scoring quarter of the match, piling on 20 goals to give themselves a 52-16 advantage with just one quarter to play.
While Cobram managed to keep pace in the final term, losing the quarter by just one goal, the damage had been done, with Mulwala romping to a mammoth 39-goal win.
The unflattering final round means Cobram finishes its season in ninth with a 4-12-2 record, with only percentage seeing the Tigers finish below Congupna in eighth.
Barooga bludgeoned by Rams
Barooga had a similarly tough end to the season, going down to Deniliquin 18-80 at the Hardinge St courts.
An 18-5 opening term from the Rams set the tone for the contest, with the margin extended even further to 32 goals by half-time, with the Hawks trailing 7-39.
Alarm bells were ringing after the main break as the margin slowly crept out beyond 40 goals, before the Rams stormed home to win by an eventual 62 goals, following a 19-3 effort in the final quarter.
The disappointing end to the season means Barooga finished with just a sole win to its name, and its 1-16-1 record consigning it to 12th spot on the ladder.
