For the second time in three weeks, the Katamatite Women’s Senior side took on a formidable Mooroopna outfit at home over the weekend.
There was little doubt over how the Cats have been able to lodge themselves firmly atop the GMC ladder this season.
After winning the toss and electing to bat, Katamatite’s innings pulled off to a slow start after Amy Bye and Abigail Brooker were out for a duck by the Cats’ Ebony Sleeth (1 for 5) and Charlie Nicholson (2 for 11).
Mooroopna’s bowling outfit proved too classy for the Tigers in the end, confining the home side to 9 for 55 after 35.3 overs, despite efforts from Annika Edis (9 from 46, not-out) and Christina Roberts (7 from 11).
Not even Katamatite’s Sienna Hutchinson (1 for 22) could stifle the Cats as the visitors took up the willow. With the Cats putting on a show in their batting, Mooroopna chased down Katamatite’s 55 in just the 12th over, losing just one wicket for 58.
