Tocumwal opened with Brandon Meloury and Toby Chappell, who got the team off to a really strong start.
Brandon Meloury fell for nine but the scoreboard was ticking over and Tocumwal were controlling the game.
One of Tocumwal’s new recruits, Bryce Meloury, came in at three and looked good making 17 before playing around a straight one.
Young Cooper Mangion walked out at four and watched Chappell bring up his 50 with a couple of very elegant reverse sweeps for four.
With Chapell having a rest by retiring, Lachie McDonald came out and looked to keep the run rate ticking along with some good running however a quick collapse saw Tocumwal 6/103 off 21 overs.
Pat Bennett then lumbered his way to the middle to make a nice 14 at the back end before a brave LBW decision saw him depart.
With their last batsman out, Chappell found the energy to get back out into the middle and finish the innings with Jess Bennett.
Bennett dominated the running between wickets, strike and tempo of the game making Strathmerton earn her wicket, which they failed to do.
Bennett and Chappell put on a partnership of 25 to bring the Tocumwal total to 9/146.
A very competitive total on a pitch that was doing a bit to say the least.
With Tocumwal’s total set, they hit the field with a lot of energy and the ball was given to Pat Bennett and Declan Cameron.
Bennett took a couple overs to warm up but when he did he managed to crack the opening pair.
Cameron, at the other end, bowled a fantastic spell.
While unlucky to not pick up a wicket, he was super economical and probed the batsmen on every ball.
Cooper Mangion was in the game all innings at square leg, and it could be sensed that something was coming for him - a fantastic run out.
This run out opened the door for Tocumwal.
In the following over, Lachie McDonald took two wickets in two balls while Toby Chappell tried his best at the other end.
At the 13-over mark, Strathmerton were 4/34 but had two seasoned players batting that had the potential to take the game away from Tocumwal.
Tocumwal threw the ball to Cooper Mangion to have a bowl with his left arm unorthodox bowling, and once he found his rhythm he was causing problems.
He picked up a couple of nice wickets in his spell.
Daniel Bennett held up one end beautifully, only going for a handful of runs off his five overs.
At the 26th over, Strathmerton were 6/82 and Lachie McDonald took a risk by throwing the ball to Seth Lawrence (or as he wants to be called now, the new Nathan Lyon) who bowled extremely well picking up three wickets including two in two balls.
Strathmerton batted out their overs and finished 9/124 giving Tocumwal a victory by 22 runs.
A special mention goes to Toby Chappell for his knock of 66 not out and Seth Lawrence for his figures of 3/16.
