A consistent four quarter effort from Katamatite was the reason for its 46-point victory over Tungamah at the Bear Pit last Saturday.
After an even first quarter, Tungamah was held to just one goal in the next two quarters to trail by 40 points at the last break.
It wasn’t the best start to season 2025 for the Bears but the players fought out the last quarter.
Ned McKeown booted three goals for the Bears whilst co coach Sam Ferguson played a strong game.

After promising themselves that they wouldn’t go round again, the boys kitted up for Round 1. Whatever the decisions, the lunchtime legends were back to doing what they do best, “drinking heavies and playing ressies.”
The coaches were undoubtedly pretty impressed packing the team out with more ex-superstars than a Fox footy commentary box, but sadly this was short lived as ambition was confused with their current ability and the injury got as long as a long neck.
‘Beats’ would have been a happy man to see some new blood coming through the ruck, no doubt eyeing up a rotation deep forward.
Brett Smith was reliable as always but probably won’t be left in charge of the kick outs next week though.
The scribe would presume Luke Wallace must sleep in an oak barrel because like a well-aged whiskey, that’s the only way you can be that smooth in all his vintage.
Good to get the first-round win.

A fantastic start to the season for the newly revamped Tungamah Fourths side against Katty.
Couldn’t have asked for a better morning for footy, and the ground looked amazing after all the offseason work.
Katamatite won the first tap and quickly put the first score on the board, but the Tunga boys responded powerfully from the second bounce.
The teamwork displayed was outstanding, each player contributing when it mattered most.

Appointed captains Pax, Tague and Jacob, led the team with impressive football.
