In last week’s round, there was a tied match with 12 sets each, between Deni Newsagency and Mitre 10.
Deni Newsagency eventually prevailed, winning 104 games to Mitre 10’s 102 games.
It was a close encounter that only came down to two games, after playing 206 games of tennis - hats off to the grading committee.
Deni Newsagency had two players win three sets, and the teams' strength looks as if it is in the middle order with the number five and seven players being Jamie Howard and Rob Sobolewski.
For Mitre 10, Naomi Ritchie was the sole three set winner.
Mitre 10 must have got off to a flyer, winning five of the seven sets in round one, but in round two and three Newsagency won 5-4 and 5-3 to get the tied result.
Peppin Planners who won easily in the first week and were able to win again last week, but with a much closer result.
Playing Legal Eagles, Peppin won 13 sets to 11, even though they lost the games score 96 versus 101.
Peppin Planners’ strength lies in its lower order, as the nine and 10 men and the three and four ladies were each three set winners.
They are Hope Semmler, Maggie Caviller, John Sibree and Jim Macdonald.
Jim has returned to the courts after a rather long stint on the tractor.
Legal Eagles players Peter Rae, Adam Menadue and Jemma Smith all won their three sets.
The Eagles’ captain was heard to mumble something about just one set the other way and they would have won having won most games.
There were six sets decided by a tie break.
