In the ladies competition, the dominant pair were Prue Grant and Colleen Henderson, who also won the 36 hole event and Sunday’s 18 hole event.
Saturday’s men’s winners were Phil Hodgkinson and George Maddison, from runners-up Thomas and Willis, while Saturday’s ladies winners were Carol Hardman and Sue Butcher, from runners-up Grant and Henderson.
The men’s 36 hole scratch winners were Peter Joice and Alan Jenkin, while the ladies scratch winners were Kerran Leetham and Margaret Naseby.
The classic capped off a huge weekend at the club, which started with the Blind Tipping competition dinner on Friday night. Congratulations to Neil Boswell and his team on another very successful event.
Last Thursday was a stableford event, won by Esther Bolton with 38 points from runner-up Karen Butcher 34.
In Wednesday’s stableford event there was a good field with three grades. A-grade winner was Leigh Chappell with 38 points on countback to Neil Boswell, B-grade winner was Dick Bolton with 40 points, from runner-up Blake Giblett 37; and C-grade winner was John Henderson with 35 from runner-up Greg Collins 34.
Coming up, we have a stableford event tomorrow and the Navorina Charity Day on Sunday, which is 4-person ambrose. There’s a timesheet in the pro shop, or book online.
Next week is 9 holes stableford on Tuesday, stableford on Wednesday, and fourball best ball on Thursday. Next weekend will be a versus par event on Saturday and the infamous Picker’s Cup mixed foursomes on Sunday.
Further down the track is the Veterans’ Week of Golf, from October 13 to 18. Entry forms are on the club website.
Big Hole Golf will return on Sunday, October 20, featuring 8 inch holes to make scoring easier. It is 4-person ambrose and raises funds for Vince Kelly in his charity bike ride with Tour de Cure.
Friday Night Fun returns to the club tonight, with happy hour from 5pm to 6pm and raffle draws from 7pm. Quality meals are available at a reasonable price.
