Cobram Roar has been awarded hosting duties for an Albury-Wodonga Football Association semi-final later this year.
It will be the first time the club will host a post-season match since joining the league in 2016.
Roar senior men's coach Bill Puckett said the club was overjoyed with the announcement.
“It's excellent news. The club is very proud and happy to be given hosting duties for the first time,” Puckett said.
“We are thankful to the league for trusting us and allowing us the opportunity to showcase our brilliant facilities.
“It really means a lot to the club. It gives us a chance to show off the club and we hope that it results in more chances in the future.”
Apex Reserve, a state-of-the-art $1.7 million facility, officially opened late last year and has been a sight to behold for Roar fans and opposition players alike.
“We have applied to host a final a couple of times now since we joined the league,” Puckett said.
“But now that we have got the new facilities, each club has seen what we have to offer, all the infrastructure is there to host finals matches.
“It's great that the league has given us a chance and we are very excited.”
And there could even be a hint of home support on that day in September.
With the Roar's senior women's side perched on top of the table, the under-17 boys destined for finals and the senior men still a chance to feature, the odds are high that Roar could have a home game for one of its outfits.
“It would be great to have some of our sides reach the semi-final, whether it be seniors or juniors,” Puckett said.
“Just being able to play at home, in front of a home crowd, it would be a fantastic moment for the club.”
