The Starlight Super Swim challenges ordinary individuals like Terry to be a ‘Super Swim Hero’ fundraising for the Starlight Foundation- a cause close to Terry’s heart.
“My own children have had to stay in the Royal Children’s Hospital, and so I’ve seen what really sick kids go through. It really hits home,” the 41-year-old said.
“The Starlight Foundation helps put a smile on these kids’ faces and makes their stay at hospital a bit easier.”
Terry, who works as a transport manager, previously played football for Wahgunyah last year, but a knee injury meant it was time to hang up the boots and get back in the water.
“I really want to keep myself fit and healthy and this fundraiser is a great way to do that,” he said.
“I’m aiming to swim around 500 metres a day at the Corowa Aquatic Centre.”
As a member of the Apex Club of Corowa, Terry will be supported by the club. Previously the club were massive supporters of the Pub to Club walk raising $20,000 last year for the Royal Children’s Hospital Good Friday Appeal.
In his first week, Terry has endured some pretty cold temperatures after a cold snap hit the region, but has already raised over $600 with a goal of raising $2500.
