Teng Kuol, 18, has joined Central Coast Mariners’ Academy from Melbourne Victory Youth to link up with younger sibling Garang, 17, who left for Gosford at the beginning of the year.
Which is a scary thought — for defenders at least.
When the pair last threw on GV Suns’ orange together two years ago, it came during a season where the brothers combined for a staggering 42 goals.
In their respective 2021 campaigns, Teng drilled home five goals in nine games for Victory’s under-21s while Garang finished up with four from 12 for the Mariners’ under-20s.
Next season they’ll have the chance to recreate their tour de force for the Suns under-16s, this time in a professional setup.
However, although both clearly know where the net is, Teng has remodelled his game to become more of a box to box midfield type, and will likely be found spraying dimes to Garang — that’s if the younger of the two isn’t playing A-League Men’s football by then.
On December 1, Garang kitted up for Central Coast Mariners for its FFA Cup bout with Wollongong Wolves.
Bizarrely, the 17-year-old was not officially named on the bench despite being a part of the substitute group in the Mariners’ dugout, but regardless of the curious circumstances, it gave some indication of just how far Garang has progressed since landing in Gosford.
It appears to be a poem Shepparton locals already know the ending to, following the resounding success of older brother Alou.
And now, as it seems, it’s Teng and Garang’s turn.
