Tatura kick-started the action with an emphatic 55-run win over Northerners in the under-14A grand final on Sunday.
Opting to bat first at Tallygaroopna, Tatura piled on 5-143 runs with two middle-order batters doing the bulk of the damage.
Rory Hearn and Balraj Singh combined for a match-winning 68-run partnership as the two youngsters went to work out in the middle.
Hearn anchored the innings with 40 retired not out from his 65 deliveries, while Singh crunched 40 retired not out from 48 balls in a dazzling knock.
Northerners were unable to string together a partnership that could replicate the Tatura duo as the visitors wreaked havoc with the ball in hand.
Tanner Miller was chief destroyer and claimed impressive figures of 3-7, while Hearn backed up his efforts with figures of 2-3.
The Jets slumped to 6-40 and thanks to some classy late-hitting from Kyren Dawson (41 runs) managed to reach 88 in reply.
Meanwhile, Nagambie’s under-14B outfit delivered the club its first piece of silverware this season.

The Blues’ young guns successfully chased down their target of 118 set by the Tigers.
Opening batters Kade Rogers (24 runs) and Callan O’Dwyer (26) got the Blues off to a cracking start which helped Numurkah chase down the target with three wickets and four overs in hand.
