Winning the toss and electing to bat at Pyalong Recreation Reserve, Seymour raced to a competitive 3-147 from their 20 overs after some spectacular hitting from Daniel Bergowicz and Luke Woolan, with the pair finishing unbeaten on 57 and 41 respectively as the Pyalong attack seemingly had no answers to the Seymour onslaught with the bat.
With 148 set for victory, Pyalong’s chase got off to a disastrous start, as wickets to Braidon Horkings and Hugh Smith early on saw the home side fall to 2-17, before Bergowicz and Lachlan Drummond got in on the act to have Pyalong 4-34 and in serious trouble.
Daniel Sowden provided some good resistance for the home side, making 32, as did Jason Ryan (20) and Mitchell Wittig (20), however Seymour proved too strong, restricting Pyalong to just 9-106 from its 20 overs to take a comfortable win.
Elsewhere, Tallarook tightened its grip on top spot with a crushing defeat of Alexandra.
Winning the toss and batting first at Leckie Park, Rooks pair Joshua Rudge and Leigh Irving went on a rampage, belting 16 boundaries between them en route to unbeaten scores of 56 and 75 respectively, as Tallarook posted a mammoth 0-139.
The Alexandra batsmen could do little in reply as Samuel Manchester claimed 4-17 to annihilate the batting line-up, with the home side bowled out for 80.
In B-grade, Avenel cruised to a seven-wicket win over Yea, Tallarook was victorious by four wickets over Alexandra and Seymour claimed a four-wicket win over Pyalong.
