Placing first in their respective age groups were Deniliquin North School student Oliver Hall and Mathoura Public School’s Sophie Eddy.
They were among 32 students from the Deniliquin and District Primary School Sport Association (DDPSSA) participating.
Coach Sarah Young was extremely proud with the efforts from the children, who represented Deniliquin North Public School, Deniliquin South Public School and Mathoura Public School.
“Some had to stay the night before due to the distance to Gundagai, which shows commitment.
“A lot of the kids train with me on a Monday afternoon, and a number of the students are also involved in the McLean Beach parkrun on a Saturday.”
Of the 32 runners, 22 of them were able to place in the top 20 of their races.
Six Deniliquin PSSA students finished in the top five of their races.
