Although they were relegated to second spot for much of the season, the Steamers finished the regular season with an 11-2 record, 37 points clear of their nearest rival heading into the finals.
After cruising through the semi-final round, 106-70 over South Bendigo on March 1, Moama earned a week off before encountering different opposition in Golden Square for the decider.
At the Eaglehawk Bowling Club, the Steamers won all four rinks in the grand final, although Golden Square didn’t make the job easy in any of them.
The biggest win of the tie came in Kevin Anderson’s rink, which finished 24-16 in Moama’s favour.
Alex Marshall and Cameron Keenan each skipped four-shot wins for the Steamers, Marshall’s 19-15 and Keenan’s 16-12.
The remaining rink was a two-shot win to Moama, 20-18, skipped by Matt Robertson, resulting in a useful final margin of 79-61 to the local side.
This is the second straight year the Steamers have prevailed in the competition, after also beating out sides from the Bendigo and Goldfields bowls regions in 2023-24.
The win affords Moama the opportunity to compete at the Bowls Victoria Weekend Pennant State Titles, where it was runner-up last year.
