Shepparton is the third stop off in the three-day State Christmas Track Carnival series following Bendigo and Castlemaine on December 28 and 29 and, in a state first, live-stream coverage will be available courtesy of a sponsorship from AusCycling.
As expected, the buzz around the event has well and truly hit Shepparton Cycling Club.
“The live-streaming is fantastic, it is the first time a track event in Victoria has been live-streamed so we are very fortunate to be sponsored by AusCycling — it will be streamed worldwide,” club secretary Peta Clark said.
“At the moment we have 100 competitors entered, and they’ll all be bringing support crews along so you can multiply that figure by four or five.
“There will also be people coming along to the track to watch as well.”
A total of seven championship races feature at the event, which are as follows: Bill Daish Memorial Derby, Elimination Godfrey Family Omnium, Tucker Maskell Memorial Championship, JW15 State Elimination Championships, JM15 State Elimination Championships, JW17 State Elimination Championships and JM17 State Elimination Championships.
Riders from across the country are set to touch down from across Australia to battle it out in the carnival, while spectators in their droves are expected to file through the gates for a full day’s racing.
Gates open at the Shepparton Velodrome from 10am, with all VIPs, volunteers, supporters and competitors requiring proof of double vaccination on entry to the event.
From then on, junior action commences at 11am followed by the seniors under the lights at 6pm — all of which can be viewed on the live-stream at https://vimeo.com/event/1621160
A fully catered canteen will be available on-site, as well as a coffee van for patrons to make use of.
Entry to the velodrome is $10, which includes a program.
Shepparton Cycling Club wished to thank its sponsors, all of which are listed on the Shepparton Christmas Track Carnival program cover.
