All indoor and outdoor sport will not go ahead for the next seven days as authorities implement a "circuit breaker" to reduce an outbreak that has grown to 26 cases.
Some of the sports that will be affected in the region include football, netball, hockey, soccer, basketball and golf.
The AFL Goulburn Murray leagues, Shepparton District Junior Football League, Northern Women's Country League, Bendigo Amateur Soccer League, Shepparton Junior Soccer Association, Shepparton Netball Association and Big V basketball are just some of the competitions that will have a forced weekend off.
The VFL, VFLW and NAB League have also been postponed as has the AFLW Under-19 Championships match between Queensland and Vic Metro.
Basketball Victoria postponed all matches of the Big V competition, meaning the Shepparton Gators’ home match with Corio Bay will also be rescheduled.
“This round will be rescheduled with further information about rescheduled dates and other potential round postponements announced next week,” a Basketball Victoria statement said.
Goulburn Valley Hockey Association also provided an update about this weekend's round of matches.
“Following today's announcement of a seven-day statewide lockdown, no hockey activities are permitted from midnight tonight to midnight next Thursday, June 3,” a post on the Goulburn Valley Hockey Association's Facebook page said.
“GVHA round 6 and RHL men's round 7 will not proceed as scheduled this weekend.
“Information on when these matches will be played will be provided in due course.
“Provided restrictions are lifted, GVHA round 7 will proceed as scheduled next weekend including the under-10 round-robin carnival.”
Golf clubs will also have to close at 11:59pm today for the duration of the lockdown.
“Following the announcement by the Acting Premier (James Merlino) today (May 27) all Victorian golf facilities must close from 11.59pm today until 11.59pm on Thursday, June 3,” a Golf Australia statement read.
Like golfers, lawn bowlers also won't be able to get out on the green during the lockdown and the men's City v Country state selection series will also be postponed.
"As you know we're heading into a full statewide lockdown from midnight tonight in Victoria,” the Bowls Victoria Facebook post said.
"This means clubs must close, including for roll-ups and practice."For those who were heading to Bendigo this weekend for the City v Country state trials, the event has been postponed until further notice."The Cricket Shepparton AGM, which was scheduled for Monday, May 31, has also been affected.
Thoroughbred, harness and greyhound racing, with necessary participants only, and professional sports will still be able to go ahead without crowds.
