Team members were Neil Goudie with his Nissan, Bryson Lloyd with his WRX, Ray Manson with his Gemini and Terry Maher with his Excel.
After practice and qualifying on Saturday morning, the race commenced about 11.30am with each driver taking turns to drive for one hour.
This equated to about 43 laps of the 3.25km circuit.
On Sunday, racing commenced at 8.30am, to complete the remaining six hours.
“Early in the race, course red was shown. This usually means a serious racing issue,” Maher said.
“It was for a total power failure at the circuit, but it just happened that Deni Sporting Car Club tech officer Gavan Nolan had his work vehicle and a suitable generator on site.
“With Gavan’s expertise, we were back on track in 30 minutes, thus ensuring completion of the event.”
The Deni team competed under the team name ‘Shorty’s Boys’ - in honour of their late friend Peter Short, a former car club member and Winton team member.
The team performed consistently to finish seventh of 28 teams.
Supporting the drivers were team manager Graham Christie, and Gavan and Frida Nolan as assistant and filling multiple roles throughout the day.
The next competition event at Winton will be the sprints on November 7.
