Kuol recently earned the tap for the Olyroos’ AFC Under-23 Asian Cup in Qatar alongside older brother Alou.
Incidentally, the younger sibling’s last kick of the ball in the West Asian nation provided Australian fans with the biggest heart-in-mouth moment of 2022.
The winger came within inches of drawing the Socceroos level with Argentina in the 2022 FIFA World Cup round of 16 clash in Qatar as La Albiceleste goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez saved his 97th-minute strike, denying Australia its champagne moment.
This time around, the pressure has been dialled down just a touch.
The Kuols received their nod for the AFC Under-23 Asian Cup after impressing for the Olyroos during the West Asian Football Federation Under-23 Championship, with Alou (three goals) and Garang (one goal) doing enough to secure a call up.
Shepparton’s round ball revelations approach the upcoming tournament in white-hot form.
They will hope to secure starting spots in group games against Jordan (April 15), Indonesia (April 18) and host nation Qatar (April 21).
Olyroos head coach Tony Vidmar said he was looking forward to getting under way in little more than a week's time.
“Everything we’ve done over the last 12 months has been focused on preparing for the Asian Cup,” Vidmar said.
“We set clear goals and expectations around what we want to achieve in Doha and I’ve been really impressed by the way the group has taken ownership of that.
“There’s a strong desire and belief within this group that I believe will serve us well throughout the challenging moments that an international tournament of this calibre will present.”
If the Kuols can keep the goals flowing, it will go a long way to securing Australia a spot in the 2024 Paris Olympics.
As one of 16 teams to qualify for the AFC Under-23 Asian Cup, a top-three finish at the tournament will earn the Olyroos an automatic spot in this year’s Games.
