Bennett said he was "elated" with the result, something that took plenty of time to prepare for.
“There's a lot off the water and on the water training,” Bennett said.
“That involves strength training and plenty of commitment to midweek skiing and plenty of weekend sacrifice.”
Bennett said the win on the Easter weekend was one of the greatest highs of his career.
“Besides being part of Moomba (Festival) in the Yarra, this is my highest moment.”
To win the title, Bennett skied across two rounds, the first of which was for seeding purposes, where he come out as number one.
He continued on his dominant position in the second round and took the title, finishing ahead of fellow Victorian Ben Cosgriff and third-placed Callan Ashcroft, from NSW.
Bennett wished to thank his aunty Gaye and uncle Michael Moroney for taking him skiing every weekend and KD Water Skis Mulwala for supplying him with his equipment.
Bennett's cousin Will Moroney also competed at the championships and finished third in the tricks event and fourth in the slalom in the under-17 category, while Bennett's sister Milla took out the under-17 slalom title.
