Shepparton United struggles in wet Echuca GVL seige

United responded with one goal of its own in the period and was held scoreless altogether in the second as Echuca took an 84-7 advantage into the half.

Five more goals eventuated in each of the third and fourth terms for the Murray Bombers and, while the Demons showed a little fight in the final quarter, they were well beaten 23.12 (150) to 6.2 (38).

Ruck Kane Morris had a field day up forward, kicking a phenomenal 10 goals, while Jackson Stewart (three goals), Tighe O’Brien, Liam Tenace and Daniel Willis (two each) were the other multiple goal-kickers.

The two-time champions continue to reign atop the table, with an almighty percentage of 227.85.

The weekend’s fixture was part of a split round for the GVL, with Echuca to have this weekend off, before returning to Victoria Park to face Seymour on July 13.

Looking ahead, Mooroopna away on July 20, Euroa at home on July 27 and a return fixture at Rochester on August 10 look to be the highlights of the Murray Bombers’ run home.
