As part of the 10-round Victorian series, the Fruits of the Valley welcomes riders from across the state and nation.
Shepparton Cycling Club is set to host rounds three and four, with more than 200 riders to descend on the 3km course for racing on Saturday and Sunday.
Now into the third year of hosting duties, Shepparton Cycling Club president Wendy Abbott said the club was thrilled to welcome back the best riders in the land.
“This is the third year that we have hosted the event, our inaugural year was so successful that Auscycling decided to include us on the state series,” Abbott said.
“It’s a great event and we welcome riders from all over the place, from New South Wales, South Australia and even the Northern Territory. We’re expecting over 200 people to participate.
“Entries close midnight on Wednesday and it’s a gold coin donation for spectators.”
The sport is a mix between road cycling, mountain biking and steeplechase ― with riders often required to dismount their bikes to run up stairs and complete obstacles.
Competitors accrue points at each event they attend, which go towards the overall State CX Champion leaderboard.
The course is approximately 3km, beginning at the velodrome, before riders must head down to WB Hunter Reserve where a sand pit, water pit and obstacles await.
Racing begins on Saturday at 2.30pm and runs through to 9.30pm, while on Sunday the action kicks off at 10am and finishes at 4.30pm.
Abbott highlighted that the Shepparton Cycling Club would have a coffee van, a beer tent and a barbecue operating.
The club will install fire pits and heaters to keep patrons warm.
Every gold coin will go towards the Eva May Foundation.
