Round 13 of the Shepparton and District Tennis Association was held at the weekend with the first two Section One matches played on Friday.
A McEwen Reserve derby between McEwen Reserve Red and McEwen Reserve Gold was the first game scheduled for the round’s action.
Red was eager to find revenge against their McEwen Reserve counterparts after Gold won the last fixture between the two sides in dominant fashion in round eight — the final scores finished 7-48 to 2-39 in Gold’s favour that day.
Just over two months after that drubbing, Red were back and raring to go against Gold.
Red were able to deliver a cold serving of revenge on Gold, winning the round 13 match 5-45 to 4-40.
The victory means Red frog-jumps Gold on the Section One ladder to move to second place, with Gold left in third heading into the last two rounds before finals.
Friday’s other match saw Shepparton North host Karramomus.
Shepparton North has become the runaway leader on the Section One ladder this season, while Karramomus sat in second last place heading into round 13.
The hosts made light work of Karramomus in the two sides’ last match-up in round eight (Shepparton North won 6-45 to 3-27).
Despite being closer than the last fixture between the two clubs, Shepparton North won Friday’s encounter, with the final score finishing 5-39 to 4-35 in the hosts' favour.
Saturday’s Section One match between Central Park and Lemnos was cancelled due to the severe heat.
Meanwhile, Section Two’s pair of matches on Saturday were also cancelled due to the weather.
