North went through the entire home and away season undefeated before besting McEwen Reserve by 17 games in the grand final on Saturday afternoon.
It was a clash of the pennant division’s top two sides, but it was Shepparton North that showed it was a class above McEwen Reserve, prevailing 7-51 to 2-34
Dominant displays were the theme of the season for North and there were some flawless performances on grand final day as well.
Clark Pettigrew, Louise Dwyer and Kellie Crosier had perfect days on the court, with each player winning all three of their rubbers.
Pettigrew and Dean Pritchett had the biggest win of the day, a strong 6-1 victory in their opening doubles rubber.
Crosier and Helen Jackson earned a 6-2 victory as well, with Crosier then teaming up with Evan Cooknell to record another 6-2 result.
It was a strong season overall for McEwen Reserve, but the side just couldn’t find a way to get past North all season.
McEwen Reserve lost four matches during the campaign, with three of those defeats at the hands of Shepparton North.
In the A1 competition, McEwen Reserve Red was able to exact some revenge for its clubmate’s pennant defeat, toppling Shepparton North by 13 games in the grand final.
Like in the pennant finale, the A1 decider had the top two teams on the ladder face off, with the minor premier again emerging victorious.
Red had the edge on Friday night, triumphing 6-41 to 3-28.
In A2, it was Lemnos who claimed the premiership flag after defeating St Brendan’s in the tightest of encounters.
Just a single game was the difference between grand final glory and despair, with Lemnos prevailing 5-44 to 4-43.
In a match decided by the narrowest of margins, a 6-1 victory by Lemnos pair Wendy McHugh and Bridget Jeffery played a key role in the final outcome.
In the A3 grand final, it was Shepparton North that secured another premiership pennant after its Red team bested St Andrew’s by seven games.
North and St Andrew’s finished third and fourth on the ladder, with both sides reaching the grand final after causing a pair of upsets in the semi-final.
Red was then able to outplay St Andrew’s in the decider as it won 5-39 to 4-32.
