M5 Rodeo Promotions’ Nicole McDonald, who finished second in the breakaway roping event on Friday night, said the event was a hit with the fans.
“It went really well, the crowd really enjoyed the event and was really well behaved,” McDonald said, while praising those who provided entertainment for the crowds.
“I just want to thank Travis Fimmel and the Travla Beer crew, as well as Gareth Leach. The crowd absolutely loved them!”
Jayden Kenny was a star in the junior division, taking out both the junior steer ride and junior breakaway roping events.
Echuca competitor Tess Lloyd was acknowledged when she was awarded the junior M5 all-around cowgirl buckle, a culmination of her outstanding performances across the M5 Rodeo series.
In the open competitions, Rope McPhee won the second division bull ride, while Brendon Crawley took out the open bareback bronc ride and Gene McDonald won the steer wrestling event.

Holly Forster claimed the breakaway roping event, in which district hope Cherie O’Donoghue was also competing.
Dean Oliver, a builder by trade and bronc rider by night, claimed the saddle bronc ride division with a score of 79, consolidating his lead at the top of the APRA Pro Tour saddle bronc section.
Dean’s sister Jourdy said the Echuca event was an amazing spectacle for fans.
“It was a fairly big crowd, bigger than what it was last year. They had heaps of stuff there. It was really good,” she said.
“All the riders rode really well. It was very well organised by Gene and Nicole.”
