After winning the toss and electing to bowl at Katamatite Recreation Reserve on Sunday, Rochy’s attack rewarded the captain’s faith, effectively ending the game in the first innings.
All six bowlers used took wickets for Rochester, with Taya Munro, Hayley Broucek, Rebecca Wade and Keely Major all grabbing two, while Harriet East and Trinity Hayler scored one each.
The Rochy attack rolled through the Tigers’ batting order, with no Katamatite player reaching double figures as their side was bowled out for just 32 in less than 14 of the allocated 20 overs.
When it came time to chase, Rochy took advantage of its time in the middle.
Opener Broucek saw out her 30 balls, retiring on 11, while East added seven as Rochy calmly eclipsed the Katamatite total in under 10 overs and for the loss of only two wickets.
Matilda Iddles had the best figures for the Tigers, taking 1-10.
Bamawm-Lockington United was in the midst of an intriguing contest with Nathalia at Bamawm Recreation Reserve, but unfortunately the light showers that had intermittently plagued the rest of the league proved heavy enough for play to be abandoned.
BLU had posted 7-64 in its 20 overs and Nathalia was 0-13 just 3.3 overs into its reply when play was stopped.
Proving one of the unluckiest teams in the league, this is BLU’s fourth no-result of the season, two more than any other side.
Next week, the penultimate round of the regular season will see Rochester and BLU face off in a 35-over contest.
