The A-grade Rhinos continue their round 11 match against Nathalia at Memorial Park, chasing 205 runs to win after the first innings.
Currently, 3-50, the Rhinos have two quality batsmen in at the crease, including vice captain Harry Hillier on 27 runs off 53 balls and import Matt Taylor on nine runs off 22 balls.
The Rhinos also have plenty of batting remaining with Griegan Taylor (498 runs at an average of 62), Brodie Bennett (272 at an average of 136), Andrew Hogan (271 at 54) and Boddie Arthur (216 at 27) still to come and face the multipronged Nathalia bowling attack.
The game is very evenly placed as the Rhinos need a further 155 runs to win while Nathalia need to take seven wickets while restricting the Deni side to under 205.
The winner of this game will go to the top of the MVCA A-grade ladder, should Katamatite beat hosts Cobram in their match.
Cobram made 63 all out in their first innings at home with Katamatite 5-40, trailing by 23 runs with 80 overs of cricket scheduled for Saturday.
C-grade
The Deni Rhinos C-grade team are also playing Nathalia at Deni tomorrow, but in a 35-over-a-side game.
The Rhinos sit top of the ladder in the MVCA C-grade while Nathalia sits in third position.
The two sides played earlier in the season at Nathalia, with the Rhinos winning the toss and electing to bowl first.
Nathan Binks top-scored for Nathalia with 29 runs on the way to the team total of 121 all out after 30.3 overs.
Cooper King, Oscar Marshall and Dushan Rathwatte lead the wicket takers with two wickets each.
In reply, Charlie McCallum top scored for the Rhinos with 31 runs as the team successfully chased the total, finishing on 6-124 after 21.5 overs, winning by four wickets.
The Rhinos will be looking for a similar result tomorrow, as a win would create a one-game margin over second place atop of the MVCA C-grade ladder.
A loss could move the Rhinos back into second position on the ladder before they have two weeks off (with a scheduled bye to follow the Australia Day weekend bye).
