With a two-month gap between meets, the SRC has taken the opportunity to further upgrade the track, ensuring it is in top condition for the cooler months and ready for another bumper 2025-26 racing season.
SRC chief executive Chris Martin said the investment in the track would pay dividends in the years to come.
“Our track manager, Brett Thompson, and his team have done an incredible amount of work over the last few years to continually improve the quality of our track,” Martin said.
“After some difficult years including flooding, the track is in sensational condition and is a testament to the investment it’s received and the hard work on the ground.
“We’re committed to a regular renovation and maintenance program that will see our track and broader facilities sit amongst the best in Victoria.
“The current works will continue for a few weeks but will be completed with plenty of time to spare before the Puckapunyal Cup on April 27.”
The Puckapunyal Cup returned last year and is firmly established as a marquee event for the SRC, this year moving from a Friday meeting to a Sunday one.
“The Puckapunyal Cup is set to be a huge day for the community and a great chance to bring the people of ‘Pucka’ out in force to enjoy country racing,” Martin said.
“We had some great ADF displays at the Pucka Cup last year and will have plenty going on to keep people busy trackside on the day.
“With the Pucka Cup now a Sunday meet, it’s a wonderful opportunity to get your friends and family together for a great day out.
“Tickets and packages will go on sale soon, so keep your eyes peeled.”
