The Gators will welcome Bulleen to the Shepparton Sports Stadium in this weekend’s round 12 Big V Basketball division one men’s clash and both teams will be hungry for the victory.
For the Shepparton side, things have been running smoothly in recent weeks, with the Gators defeating Warrnambool and Coburg last time out, while Bulleen suffered a close loss to the table-topping Melbourne University in its most recent outing.
Gators coach Josh Waight said his side was looking forward to the game, with the team feeling refreshed after a league bye last week.
“Bulleen are a quality team and we know that the next few weeks are really important for us and our season,” Waight said.
“It’s crucial to stay above the middle pack so we know how important Saturday night’s game is.”
Bulleen sits 10th on the ladder with a record of five wins and nine losses.
While the Gators are in second with 11 wins and four losses, Waight explained “anyone can beat anyone” on any given night.
“We want to make sure we keep winning, keep our form, we know that any team can beat any team in this league,” Waight said.
“We had a session off last week and the boys are really refreshed and relaxed and we had a really good session Tuesday night.
“Other than that I think we’re pretty full strength, ready to go and really looking forward to the challenge.”
The usual suspects will once again be ones to watch for the Gators on Saturday night, including American import Garrett Jefferson, sharp-shooter Dylan Wilkie and the big man in the middle Matt Andronicos.
Saturday night’s game at the Shepparton Sports Stadium will begin at 7pm.
