The Deni Rams senior footballers hosted the Leitchville Gunbower Bombers for a hit out at Hardinge St Oval last Friday night.
Leitchville Gunbower play in the Heathcote District Football League.
The made a grand final appearance last season, and claimed their last senior premiership in 2018.
Originally planned for the Saturday, the game was moved to Friday under lights due to the prediction of 40°C. Friday still reached a stifling 37°C, but kickoff was at 7pm to try and avoid the heat.
The game was played in good spirits on the night and gave both clubs a good chance to gauge how everything is going after months of training.
While there was no score kept, there was definitely some good intensity.
Club president Tony Marshall said he was happy with how the practice match went, and was looking forward to the next hitouts for seniors and juniors.
“The practice matches last weekend were everyone’s first hitout.
“It was good to knock the rust off and have a game after months of training. There were no injuries, so good preparation, really.
“This weekend, the Rams are hosting Coolamon in the seniors and Finley in the fourths.
“The fourths are starting at 9.30am with the senior game starting around 12pm.”
The Deni Rams’ senior netballers also got back on the court at the weekend, making a trip to Dandenong to play in a tournament. The group performed strongly across 10 games in the one day.
