Former Strathmerton and Murray Bushranger star Louis Pinnuck has been selected in the 2025 Smithy’s VFL State Team squad.
The side will take on a SANFL representative side at Tanunda Recreation Park in the Barossa on Saturday, April 12, during the AFL’s Gather Round.
Pinnuck is part of an initial 43-player squad that will be whittled down to a 23-man side closer to the match.
The 26-year-old defender has been a key player for Werribee since joining the club for the 2017 season.
Pinnuck has continued his growth on and off the field and was pivotal for his side during last year’s premiership-winning campaign.
This is Pinnuck’s second straight selection in the squad and it comes after the defender’s impressive 2024 season, his teammates Dom Brew and Jack Riding have also been named.
He played 20 games for the Tigers last season, finished top five in their best-and-fairest and led the competition for total marks.
Named as deputy vice-captain at the club for 2025, Pinnuck will be hoping he can bring his leadership to the representative side for the first time, having missed out on selection last year due to injury.
Pinnuck has played 109 games for Werribee in his nine seasons at the club and received life membership at the Tigers last year.
The gun defender played his junior football for Strathmerton in Picola District Football League, before impressing for the Bushies in the then-named TAC Cup.
Since signing for Werribee, Pinnuck has returned to the region to play for Strathmerton and Seymour in the Goulburn Valley League, both for one game.
Pinnuck has signed on at Cobram in Murray Football League for 2025, but will unlikely feature for the Tigers given his VFL commitments.
