While the Blues fared much better than in round one, it still couldn’t manage to pull off a win and had to settle for a seven-goal loss to Rennie.
Coming off a round one pummelling at the hands of Katunga, Picola United more than doubled its goals against Rennie but couldn’t quite catch the side, losing 38-31.
This leaves the Blues in 15th after two rounds and after a week’s rest and training in round three should come back stronger when it faces rivals Mathoura in round four.
Mathoura v Berrigan
Much like the Blues, Mathoura came within striking distance of beating Berrigan, with the home side just holding on in a tight finish.
The Timbercutters were ultimately beaten by eight goals in the contest, which marks its second loss in as many rounds to start 2025.
The final score was Mathoura 44 to Berrigan 52.
However, Mathoura who currently sits in 13th will have an opportunity to get on the board after a break in round three when it travels to Picola to do battle with the Blues in a rival showdown.
Despite double losses for both sides, there is marked improvement and both teams will be counting on an upward trajectory to bring them into the finals fold as the season progresses.
