A smorgasbord of enticing round two matches awaits fans this Saturday, as teams prepare to either steady the ship, or continue early momentum.
After a blistering round one victory, Rennie will have a well-earned rest after toppling Mathoura 66-27.
Paula Mifka’s side was dominant in all areas of the court, running away with the result to kick-start its campaign.
Mathoura coach Rita Howard told the Riverine Herald a difficult pre-season had contributed to the team’s round one performance.
“It was only eight weeks ago we didn’t even have a club,” Howard said.
“We didn’t have much of a pre-season to develop as much as we should have.
“To me that doesn’t matter. We’ll just keep working hard at training and we’ll get it together.
“We played Rennie, who are pretty dominant and have worked well with each other over the years.”
It doesn’t get any easier for the Timbercutters, however, who face a Waaia unit this weekend fresh off a scintillating 45-38 win over Strathmerton.
The round one headliner had it all, with both sides’ performances a strong indication they’ll be there or thereabouts come the end of the season.
Milly Foster’s side just edged it in the end, with only seven goals the difference.
As for the Bulldogs, a round two rebound will be the focus, coming up against a Katandra side that narrowly went down to Tungamah in the season opener.
The Kats were trailing the Bears for the majority of the clash, a sluggish fourth term allowing Katandra to get close, but not close enough; Tungamah nabbing the win by just five goals.
Elsewhere, Jerilderie faces Katamatite, the Demons on fire after a 51-22 dismantling of Blighty.
The Redeyes will be up against it again this weekend, taking on Aimee Sidebottom’s Katunga side, which accounted for Deni Rovers last time out.
To round out the action the Rovers will face Picola United, which commences its season after a round one bye.
