To commemorate the occasion there will be a number of special features to this week’s run, where the group is hoping to get as many runners as possible to take part.
The theme for this year's anniversary is crazy hats or crazy socks, with participants encouraged to dress up for their run.
Free bacon rolls, cakes and other treats will be available, while hot drinks will be available to purchase from Echuca Moama Coffee Roasters.
Yorta Yorta Elder Uncle Keith Hearn will perform a smoking ceremony to launch the event, just as he did at the first ever Echuca Moama parkrun.
Representatives from The Athlete’s Foot and Echuca Foot and Ankle Clinic will be on hand to give advice and allow runners to view and test products.
Parkrun is a global brand that promotes and organises community runs around the world.
As an organised event within the parkrun system, participants get their weekly times recorded and ranked against every runner in the parkrun system.
This also allows participants to run at any parkrun around the world and have their run added to their overall record.
The inaugural Echuca Moama parkrun in 2017 drew 231 participants, a record that stood until Easter this year when 265 runners took to the 5km course.
Andy Rogers was a participant in the inaugural Echuca Moama parkrun and has been an event director for the past four years.
“More and more people are going to parkrun now,” he said.
“All the events over the world are noticing, since we've been back from COVID a couple of years, numbers are always there.
“With the influx of people in town and the popularity of parkrun now, I feel that's what boosted the numbers for (Easter) week.”
Rogers promoted the community and social aspects of the run, which has become a fixture every Saturday at 8am for many participants.
“It's the community that we've got at parkrun, it’s just fantastic,” he said.
“Everybody knows everyone and the newcomers are always welcome, everybody makes them welcome.
“It’s getting people out the house and getting people to go and do a bit of exercise, which is great for everybody.”
Parkrun events are built on the work of volunteers, with at least six required each event. But Rogers again praised the parkrun community, noting they had never had trouble getting volunteers.
Current directors Rogers and Rod Cairns will reunite with all past run directors at the event.
The Echuca Moama parkrun’s 300th running and seventh anniversary event will take place at 8am on Saturday May 11, with pre-race festivities beginning at 7.30am, at Lions Park, corner of Campaspe Esplanade and Ogilvie Ave, Echuca.
For runners new to parkrun, registration at https://www.parkrun.com.au/register/?eventName=echucamoama is essential.
