The local derby between Goorambat Bats and Benalla All Blacks lived up to the crowd’s expectations as the evenly matched teams traded goals from start to finish.

On the Goorambat side it was Jamie Dunne who stepped up with a good game in the middle as Rick Walker played one of his best games of the year so far down back.
For Benalla it was Jake Jones who was the pick of the bunch, with Cody Crawford and Chelton Orchard also having good spells.
Up front for Goorambat, Kobe Black continued a good string of form as he kicked two goals.
Goorambat was able to keep its nose just in-front come each quarter break, which would eventually see it across the line ahead of Benalla.

Reserves
The story of the game was different in the reserve grade as Benalla came away with a comprehensive win over Goorambat.
Jordan Dux had a best on ground performance, while Harry Moran managed to kick six goals.
Brendan Moffatt and Dean Bradshaw were both crucial to Benalla’s good form.
Goorambat’s Jack Williams continued his good form from the previous week while teammates, Peter Cochrane and Todd Haslam dug deep on a tough afternoon along with Shaun Lemmer and Dallas spencer.

NETBALL
A-Grade
This week Goorambat celebrated two milestones as Kylie Relf played her 250th and Brittany Button played her 100th game for the club.
Goorambat rose to the occasion as they sealed victory over their local rivals, 48 to 33, with a well-executed team effort.
Goorambat’s best player this week was Carli Brennan in WA who provided a number of drives down the court and fed the shooters with high accuracy.
Nikki Wallace and Brittany Button had Goorambat’s defence drilled as both defenders made the opposition shooters work hard for their goals.
Jenna Brunner was able to affect the game in both GS and C, as she took her shooting chances well and provided options down the court.

B-Grade
The experience of the All Black’s proved to much for the Bat’s as Benalla won, 56 to 26.
The game started with both teams going goal for goal.
Chelsea Bamford and Georgia Thomson of Goorambat made it hard for opposiiton attack to get to the post.
Intercepts in the defensive end by Goorambat allowed Jo Gall and Hannah Botta to apply midcourt pressure.
The All Blacks set up a comprehensive defence, forcing Goorambat to move Chelsea Bamford into goals to open up the court.
Scores were pretty even at half time however the third quarter saw Benalla pull away on the scoreboard.
Goorambat were unable to stem the flow by capitalising in attack which saw Benalla come away as victors.
Goorambat will be hoping to bounce back against Moyhu next week.

B-Reserve
In B Reserve the All Blacks picked up a 53 to 17 win over their rivals.
Best on court for Goorambat was Abby Hammond as she stepped up in her role as GA by positioning, moving & shooting well.
Second best went to Kaitlin Percy who controlled the ball well in the mid court with strong leads.
Kate Nolan put the pressure on the opposition goalers when she moved down to defence at half time earning her third best on court.

Under-17
Third on the ladder coming into this game, Benalla were able to get the win over Goorambat 48 to 43.
Goorambat were missing a key defender from their game but under 15’s Eleanor and Izzy stepped up to help the team out.
Goorambat fought hard right throughout the game but the All Blacks’ attack was relentless.

Under-15
Benalla defeated an enthusiastic Goorambat team 23 to 14.
The game had similar features to a tennis game with ball going back and forth down the court.
The All Blacks got off to a quick start which left the Bats having to chase their opponents down.
Goorambat tried to work themselves into the game with the last quarter being their best as they transitioned down the court quickly to allow their players, Yolly and Ella, to shoot some valuable goals.
Despite good pressure from the Goorambat defence, Benalla proved to be clinical in attack, sealing the win.
