Tokyo Olympics silver medallist Taliqua Clancy has her eyes on the title this year alongside new partner Jana Milutinovic, who cleaned up at last year’s title race with Stefie Fejes.
This year, Fejes will also team up with rising talent Lara Maric while chasing a third straight victory at Cobram.
Australia’s D'Artagnan Potts and Jack Pearse will head the men’s field after taking victory at last year’s Asian Championships.
The pair, whose win was the more remarkable for their having played only three tournaments together before, will come out of the gates in strong form off the back of victory in Canberra earlier this month.
The festivities will continue today with a free Family Fun Night following the wind-up of competition. Attendees will be treated to live music and games for the kids' courtesy of Skillzone.
Cobram Barooga Business and Tourism chair Nicky Goldsworthy said seeing Olympic and Commonwealth Games medallists bring their talent to the region was incredibly exciting.
“After flooding forced the 2023 event to be cancelled, we were excited for the Cobram-Barooga Classic to return last year, and it didn't disappoint,” she said.
“We'd love to see the community get out and be part of this great event.
"Our Free Family Fun Night is open to everyone, and we hope to then see the community checking out the action right throughout the weekend."
The competition kicked off from 9am on Friday, February 28 and will continue from 8am over the weekend.
The Super Sunday bronze and gold medal matches will be streamed live on the AusVolley YouTube Channel from 11.30am AEDT.
