The club is one of 28 across the state to benefit from the latest round of the Victorian Government’s Shooting Sports Facilities Program.
Numurkah Small Bore Rifle Club treasurer Lindsay Braybon said club members were happy to receive the grant.
“The benefits will be an improved and more up-to-date venue for all to enjoy,” Braybon said.
He said the funding would go towards upgrading the air rifle range with new LED lighting, a new target system and the replacement of ageing electrical wiring at the switch board and generator shed.
Member for Northern Victoria Mark Gepp said the investment would ensure the long-term sustainability of the sport and enable shooters to hone their skills and excel with modern, safe facilities.
“With a strong following in the Goulburn Valley, this funding will go a long way in helping the Numurkah Small Bore Rifle Club promote the sport, provide a safe and welcoming community space and encourage locals to learn practical skills about safe and responsible use of firearms,” he said.
“Congratulations to Numurkah Small Bore Rifle Club on securing this funding and I look forward to seeing its project progress.”
Since 2014, 208 projects have benefited from more than $13.48 million to improve the quality and sustainability of shooting sports facilities and activities across the state.
The grants provide an opportunity for clubs to boost participation, better accommodate people of all abilities and provide real pathways from the grassroots to the elite level.
