NCWL | Echuca sinks Shepparton in big win at home

It’s Echuca’s fifth straight win for the season, and its second triple-figure win of the year in ominous signs for the NCWL.

Ruck Paige Baksh continued her strong season with another best-on-ground showing, while Jayda Richardson and Kelley Walker found the goals on four occasions for Echuca.

Jordan Irvine, Thany Williams and Jacquelyn James also brought the highlights.

United’s only goal came in the first quarter through Emily Zampaglione, and Echuca’s stifling defensive efforts only allowed the Demons to convert a single behind in the remaining three quarters.

Matilda Henderson, Caitlin Ross and Hannah Scott were judged Shepparton’s best on the day.

Victory sees Echuca remain undefeated, one game clear of second-placed Nathalia.

Both the Murray Bombers and Purples are currently the competition pace-setters, with Nathalia clear of next-best club Benalla by three games.

The NCWL now has a competition bye for interleague tryouts, with Echuca returning to competition on Friday, May 27, against Benalla.
