The state’s governing body has begun its annual Women’s Premier All Stars series, allowing two squads of top-performing representatives from throughout the premier divisions to collide.
Among the women selected is once-regular Echuca standout Grace Moyle, also affiliated to Carlton within the Victoria Premier system.
Joining her in the All-Star Blue squad is Madison Albers, listed with Essendon Maribyrnong Park in the metro competition, but having finished as GMC runner-up with Nagambie this past season.
Moyle has established herself as the premier force in an emerging family of talent cricket-wise, having forgone the green of Echuca to compete for Carlton full-time.
She took the under-18 competition to task in particular, notching 241 from five innings at an average of 80.33.
Meanwhile, Albers retained her local commitments throughout her 2024-25 campaign balancing Nagambie fixtures with some solid outings in the metro women’s first grade and A-grade Seymour district games in Puckapunyal’s men’s side.
A handful of women with state contracts highlight each squad, with Albers and Moyle receiving a chance to pick brains the likes of current Melbourne Renegade Ella Hayward, who was a guest speaker at the GMC women’s best-and-fairest night earlier this month.
The representative affairs kicked off with a one-dayer this past Saturday, but Wednesday evening will be a T20 at Jubilee Park before a 20-over double-header across Saturday morning and afternoon at the Albert Ground.
All-Star Blue head coach Cassie Brock touted the extra eyes that Victoria’s elite women get to compete in front of through initiatives such as these.
“CV’s Cricket Performance strategy aims to develop a progressive pathway that assists in the development of cricketers capable of competing and succeeding at the highest level,” Brock said.
“The Premier All Stars series has been set up to provide the best performing and identified players with additional match opportunities and exposure to an elevated level of competition.”
