The Bushies, who have multiple GWS Academy players on their list, suffered a 39-point defeat in the NAB League under-19 girls encounter.
Three top-age talent from the Bushies were running around for the opposition in the round six clash at Lavington Sports Ground.
Windy conditions made the contest a slog in the first half, with GWS leading 1.8 (14) to a scoreless Murray outfit.
Murray was able to hit the scoreboard after the main break, but the Giants powered ahead with six goals to two in the second half.
The academy unit monstered the inside 50s count, finishing the game with 47 to Murray's 11, however, the Bushrangers managed 39 rebound 50s.
“We were competitive in the first half and had chances, but we just fell away up forward,” Bushies assistant coach Mario de Santa-ana said.
“They were all quite older and bigger than us too, majority of our players were in that 15-16 age group. But the girls still put pressure on and competed hard and what we saw we liked.
“And we were down two rotations in the second half. Seymour's Emily Williams rolled an ankle and Benalla's Tayissa Gray came off with concussion.”
Shepparton United youngster Aurora Smith continued her brilliant season with a sublime performance on the wing.
Smith racked up 21 disposals, five rebound 50s and two marks and was one of Murray's standout players.
Teammate and Benalla product Keeley Skepper was another vital cog in the midfield, finishing the match with 18 disposals and six tackles.
Finley product and Shepparton United forward Olivia Cicolini booted one major in the loss.
“Aurora had a pretty special game, she just continues to play great football,” de Santa-ana said.
“And we were really happy with Keeley's match, she added another element with six tackles.”
The result leaves Murray locked in 14th spot on the ladder with three rounds to play.
Looking ahead to this weekend the Bushies travel to take on Gippsland Power.
