Going into the match, the Lions welcomed back the superstar Tayce Gallegah, sister of Steph. Having these two either ends of the court is a force to be recon with.
Against the 2021 premiers it was a tough match, very physical with goalies persisting over 4 quarters.
All mid courters working hard, and defence killing it. It was a great coach’s game by the quiet Bre, and the new gun Shanna in the mid court. Across the court all players played their role and it was fantastic to see the team do so well.
It was a shame the girls didn’t have a 5th quarter. Keep an eye on these girls.
Awards: Lara -Miss dolly, Shanna Seeligar.
B Grade
Nathalia forfeited.
Some very enthusiastic girls were keen as for their first game. Welcome back to the Lion family Nat Ferguson and daughter Abbi. Nat was excited to get amongst the girls and captain the side with the talented Leah but unfortunately Nathalia forfeited in the B Grade.
We’ll take those 4 points, so watch this space.

It was a close game with Nathalia just coming out on top. Well done girls. Look forward to the wonderfulness mixed bag turning up again next sat!

Mulwala 36 def by Nathalia 41.
2022, the girls were keen to hit the courts and started strong with Marnie pushing hard in C giving the girls plenty of options. Kat converted giving strong passes into the goal ring.
Maddi was on her toes all day never giving up. Although they didn’t come away with a win, they have some great plans for training over the coming weeks.
Awards: Thurs night- Marnie, Wingates - Kat.
Under 17s
Mulwala 39 draw Nathalia 39.
The Under 17s had a tough game against Nathalia. Polly Mikayla and Paige in the ring were a great combination. Recce and Keeley fought well in defence against a strong opposition.
Chloe, Maya, Jess, Hannah and Mikayla moved the ball well throughout the mid court.
With the final score being a draw 39 each, 2 points can be good here too for the business end of the season.
It’s only upward from here for the 17s.
Awards: one zach- Paige Thur dinner- Mikayla.
Under 15s
Mulwala 30 draw Nathalia 30.
Great first hit out. Down all game, but fighting back strong for the draw with Allanah, Ruby and Milla working hard in defence.
Myley Jem and the versatile Abbi Ferg made a great combination in goals. With Ruby and Bonnie assisting both ends and not giving up in the midcourt.
2 points are good for the business end of season, even if its only round 1. Some things to take back and work on at training but a fantastic first game effort.

Girls did a fabulous job this first week. All the girls were finding space, working together and chasing loose balls.
Their defensive pressure was amazing with hands over the ball and accuracy in finding the target. Congratulations on your first game little legends.
